Should You Show Your Tattoos on Your Wedding Day?

Should You Show Your Tattoos on Your Wedding Day?

Christmas, New Year and of course Valentine’s Day are the most popular times of the year to get engaged. Our clinic colleague and make-up artist, Sue York asks what many brides and grooms will be wondering – do you show or hide your tattoos on your wedding day?

For many people their tattoos are part of who they are and they’re proud to show them off and would not dream of doing anything different on their wedding day…. but, you maybe desperate to hide yours? Perhaps tattoos just don’t feature in who you want to be on your wedding day and in your photographs?

So, how do you go about covering a tattoo?

Skin camouflage products are different from normal make-up products because when fully set, they will be smudge-proof and waterproof – vitally important on your wedding day! And will last for 8-12 hours on the face and up to 2-3 days on arms or legs.

Are camouflage products easy to apply?

Camouflage consultations are available with Sue and other Our clinic colleagues who can show you how to apply the products quickly to get the best results.

How do I choose which products are right for me?

Rather than buying products straight off the internet without trying them first, Sue has all the main brands of camouflage creams and powders available that we can sample to determine which best suits you.

How do I match the products to my skin tone?

Many shades of colour available in the products, so we can find the exact match for you.

With a tattoo, it’s not as straightforward as just finding a colour match for your skin tone. The coloured inks used in a tattoo mean that it’s often necessary to blank out those first, before a colour match to your skin tone is applied.

Don’t camouflage creams look thick and heavy on the skin?

No, although they may look thick in their container, when used very sparingly with a very fine layer, will look very natural on the skin.

Skin camouflage products can be part of your normal beauty make-up routine, including your wedding day make-up, and cover pigmentation, vitiligo, rosacea, scars, birthmarks, age spots and stretch marks.
